Day 5 | JL³ Hidden Performance Challenge™

Welcome to Day 5.

Today is about slowing down before solving and clarifying what needs to be explored next.

This week, you have looked at one performance challenge from several angles. You named the challenge, separated facts from assumptions, noticed patterns, and considered the conditions that may be contributing.

Today, you are going to pull that thinking together. The goal is not to choose the final solution yet. The goal is to clarify what deserves more attention before you decide what to do next.

Video coming soon.

You can complete today’s activity below.

Today’s Challenge

Review what you captured during Days 1 through 4. Then identify the questions you need to explore next before choosing a solution.

This is the moment where many leaders feel pressure to move quickly. If deadlines are slipping, they want to add accountability. If errors are increasing, they want to add training. If customers are frustrated, they want to add coaching, scripts, or new procedures.

Those may eventually be part of the answer. But before choosing the fix, it helps to make sure you understand the problem clearly enough.

The goal today is not to delay action. The goal is to make the next action more accurate.

Questions to explore next may sound like:

  • Do people understand what successful performance looks like?
  • Are expectations clear and consistent across leaders or teams?
  • Do people have the tools, systems, time, or support needed to do the work well?
  • Where does the work start to break down?
  • What are people being unintentionally encouraged to prioritize?
  • What would we need to validate before choosing training, coaching, process change, or accountability as the solution?

“Great” may need to be defined by:

  • What people should be able to do consistently.
  • What customers, leaders, or team members should experience differently.
  • What should improve in quality, speed, accuracy, confidence, follow-through, or consistency.
  • What evidence would show the challenge is actually improving.

Complete Your Day 5 Response

Your response will complete the core pieces of your Hidden Performance Snapshot.

Your Day 5 Snapshot statements: The questions I need to explore next are... What great would look like is...

Think about what you need to ask, observe, validate, review, or understand more clearly before deciding what action to take.

Describe what would be different if this challenge improved. Think about behavior, results, confidence, consistency, customer experience, quality, speed, or follow-through.

This does not need to be the full solution. Name the next step that would help you understand the challenge more accurately.

After you submit, your response will be connected to your challenge record.

Your Day 5 response has been saved. You have completed the JL³ Hidden Performance Challenge™.

Your Hidden Performance Snapshot is being built now.

What Happens Next

By the end of today, you should have the core pieces of your Hidden Performance Snapshot.

You have not just named a problem. You have started defining it more clearly before jumping to a fix.

After you submit your response, your Hidden Performance Snapshot will be built. Once it is ready, you will be able to review, print, or save it for future reference.
