Day 1 | JL³ Hidden Performance Challenge™
Welcome to Day 1.
Today is about choosing one specific performance challenge to focus on for the week.
When performance stalls, it is easy to start with the solution. We may think the issue is training, accountability, motivation, communication, or follow-through before we have clearly named the actual challenge.
This week, you are going to slow that process down. Before you try to solve anything, you are going to define the performance issue more clearly.
Video coming soon.
You can complete today’s activity below.
Today’s Challenge
Choose one real performance challenge you want to examine this week.
This should be something specific enough that you can observe it, describe it, and gather information about it over the next few days.
The goal today is not to diagnose the problem. The goal is to name the challenge clearly enough that you know what you are actually looking at.
Instead of choosing something broad like:
- Communication is bad.
- People are not accountable.
- Morale is low.
- Productivity is down.
- The team needs training.
Try to choose something more specific, such as:
- Project handoffs are missing key information.
- Deadlines are being missed on recurring work.
- New employees are taking longer than expected to work independently.
- Customer issues are not being resolved on the first contact.
- Managers are having to repeatedly follow up before work is completed.
Complete Your Day 1 Response
Your response will be saved and used to build your Hidden Performance Snapshot at the end of the challenge.

What Happens Next
By the end of today, you should have one clear performance challenge selected for the rest of the week.
Do not worry yet about what is causing it. Do not jump to the solution. Just make sure the challenge is clear enough that you can keep looking at it from different angles.
After you submit your response above, you are done for today. Day 2 will arrive by email tomorrow.
